Installing Kunena 1.7.2 on Joomla 2.5

I had a play with this Forum in Joomla! 1.5, so definitely want it here. I found out that I need to install it before Community Builder, and that I first need to sort out my SEO:

Configure SEO Settings

For some reason my Admin site under Global Configuration > Site looks a bit messed up, but I managed to set the following options:

SEO Settings:

Search Engine Friendly URLs: Yes
Use URI rewriting: Yes
Add Suffix to URL: No
Unicode Aliases: No
Include Site Name in Page Titles: After

I then changed my htaccess.txt file in the root directory of my installation to .htaccess. I had to do this using the command line because stupid Windows Explorer complains that there's no filetype. Go to Windows > Run and type cmd for command line. Navigate to the correct folder with cd (change directory) and use dir to list the contents of the directory. Use rename to rename your file:

rename htaccess.txt .htaccess

When Kunena 1.7 is first installed, the component menu item is created but it is not published. You will need to publish this menu item if you want Kunena to use Joomla SEF URLs.

Check the Compatibility of Versions

The Minimum system requirements for Kunena 1.6 and 1.7 are:

PHP     5.2.3+  or  5.3.0+
MySQL   5.0.3+  or  5.1.0+  or  5.5.0+
Joomla  1.5.23+, 1.7.3+ or 2.5.0+

The Kunena installer checks minimum system requirements and will abort the install if requirements are not met.

With the release of Joomla! 2.5, it is essential to be running K 1.7.2 or later. K 1.7.2 represents the conclusion of the K 1.7 project and marks the end of life for this important transition to Kunena 2.0. J! 2.5 introduced a number of changes that have made it necessary for Kunena to be redesigned so that it would install and operate effectively from a single installation package.
